To receive the volunteer benefits above, volunteers must read the Required Reading PDF.
Want to Volunteer?
The Folk Festival is always looking for good people who want to contribute. The information that follows is designed to help you decide if you want to become part of this major community festival.
What Will I Do?
Over 300 volunteers carry out a wide variety of tasks working on crews using a wide spectrum of physical, technical and interpersonal skills. Sign Up for the crew and time that you want!
Most volunteers need to be available for the entire Festival weekend (that’s when most tasks happen). Weekend volunteers contribute 12 hours over the three days.
Some crews work primarily pre-festival. These volunteers contribute a minimum of 20 hours. There are limited opportunities for most pre-festival crews. In some cases, people with specific skills may be recruited.
Meetings/Who Will Contact Me?
Each crew meets before the Festival to plan for the Festival to receive updated information, plan for the weekend and often to arrange their volunteer schedule. Attendance at the crew meeting is important! Signing Up online here allows you to choose your preferred crew and shift times.
What If I Don’t Get Accepted?
We make every effort to place volunteers before June 1st. If this deadline is approaching and you haven’t heard from us, please contact us.
Depending on which crew you select, you may need a background check. You will see this information in the crew description if this is necessary. *Please do not complete a police check until you have been placed on a crew.
A Final Word
The Kingsville Folk Music Festival is successful, in part, because volunteers work together as a team to provide excellent services to patrons, performers and other volunteers. The success of the festival is therefore dependent upon volunteers contributing fully to their crew and completing all scheduled shifts. Our volunteers are passionate about the festival and folk music. If you are looking for a rewarding volunteer experience, and would like to be a part of the KFMF volunteer community, we would love to hear from you.
Our hearts are heavy with the loss of one of our festival family members, Yves Brouillard.
Most of you have gotten to know Linda Skowby over the past 3 years as the Coordinator of the Admin crew for the Kingsville Folk Festival and some as a fellow Bingo volunteer have also gotten to know Linda and her love and soul mate Yves Brouillard. Yves also joined us as a first time folk fest volunteer this year.
Sadly, Yves passed away Friday, September 9, 2016 in London from injuries sustained from an accident. A father, spouse, sportsman and volunteer, Yves spirit lives on through the generosity of organ donation thereby giving life to others.
The Sun Parlour Folk Music Society will honour Yves with a 2017 MAY FUNd Scholarship dedicated to his memory.
